Sierra Student Art is HOT!!!

Wow! The Annual Juried Student Show opened today in Ridley Gallery (here on campus, first floor of the LRC). The show is incredible! The breadth of work took my breath away. The pieces are fresh and authentic and explore compelling and often provocative subjects. My favorites were two pieces by Anah Redding...LOVE them! One is a bright red stop sign that offers a contemporary (re)interpretation of a famous painting by Norman Rockwell. Another is a 2d work, painted on canvas titled "Introvert Advantage." The painting is made with monochromatic palette and the unsaturated hues are silent and the forms seem to turn inward on themselves. As an introvert, I appreciated this one! Don't miss this show!! It's open until April 26th. There will be a reception and student awards ceremony on April 12th from 5:30-7:30.
