Course Description:
Learning is, by nature, a social activity and successful online courses should be designed with this in mind. This class will explore the essential roles that social presence, personalized learning, and collaboration play in building online community and provide you with a robust toolkit of tips, learning activities, and creative uses of emerging technologies to integrate into your courses.  Experience new levels of student engagement and retention and see online learning through a whole new lens!

Throughout the class, you will use a variety of social media tools to converse with your classmates. This will include contributing and interacting in the public web and in private asynchronous discussions using voice or video communications.  You will connect with your peers through our own closed social network and work independently to develop your own Google Site and collaborative VoiceThread activity which will be shared in a wiki environment at the end of the course.
